I was born in the belly of the beast
I heard some noise and caught a glimpse of light between it’s teeth
So I studied it’s habits, the cycles of when it eats
Then one night before a ritualistic feast
I crawled up it’s throat and hid in it’s cheek
After thunderous laughter the beast needs a drink… so
Between the gulps I would itch it’s throat
It finally spit me free
So I gather my thoughts while feeling it’s glare
I slow my breath while it disrupts the air
It stomps the ground craving my feedback of fear
So I finally turn around curious as to why it even cares
Why do you care?
I look into the black abyss of it’s eyes, mirrored to mine
It’s the common darkness of a pupil, a student seeking light
So I bow in respect and notice a mother, smiling behind
I smile at her as I walk back towards the beast
I say to it, “I will be a piece of meat, if that’s what you need.”
It growls and roars as I crawl back into it’s mouth
So I gently whisper, “Consume me and I’ll let more out.”
